Human Right in Criminal Justice Context

The course aims to introduce the theory of human rights and to present their practical application in criminal justice contexts. It will focus on the human rights guarantees relevant for criminal process, including the perspective of suspects, the accused, victims, as well as other participants in criminal traits. In addition to human rights standards regarding a fair criminal trial, the course will also examine criminal law intervetions in the scope of protected rights such as human life, bodily integrity, privacy, personal liberty, or freedom of speech. In the remaining context the course analyzes current problems with human rights protection regarding conditions of detention, addressing, among other issues, the rights of prisoners.
