Objective: <\/strong>
The course is intended to familiarize students with basic notions of insurance law, i.e. risk, hazard, peril, insurance contract. The course will focus on different types of insurance, in particular different types of commercial insurance. The course will also provide an overview of the insurance company operations as well as insurance claims settlement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim:
Gathering information about basic concepts in insurance law.
Gathering necessary and useful information about different types of insurance.
Getting knowledgable about insurers and typical insurance company operations.
Getting knowledgable about settlement of insurance claims.
Getting knowledgable about fundamental legal principles of insurance law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acquired knowledge;
Student has knowledge about basic notions of insurance law, such as risk, hazard, peril, etc.
Student knows what insurance contract is.
Student knows different types of insurance.
Student has knowledge about rights and duties of parties to the insurance contract.
Student knows fundamental legal principles of insurance law.
Student is knowledgable about insurers and typical insurance company operations.
Student has knowledge about specific nature of commercial insurance.
Student has knowledge about specific nature of settlement of insurance claims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acquired skills:
Student can properly apply legal provisions in order to solve simple cases.
Student applies theoretical knowledge in analyzing legal phenomena, critically selecting analytical methods and forming own opinions.
Student is competent to analyze insurance contract.
Student analyzes the content of legal acts and regulations and interprets them correctly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed reflection:
Student exhibits independent and critical thinking and action when solving practical legal problems regarding insurance.
Student is open to establishing social, legal and commercial relations in the international dimension.
Student is competent to identify and solve a problem arising out of insurance contract.
Student can properly set priorities in pursuance of the objectives designated either by him or by others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assessment: <\/strong>
The final grade consists of: exam ( 50% ), term papers ( 10% ), case studies ( 10% ), class activity ( 20% ), student own work ( 10% ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
